What is an exit clean?

A Sweep Scrub “Exit clean” typically refers to the process of cleaning a property thoroughly before moving out. It's commonly associated with rental properties, where tenants are required to leave the premises in a clean and tidy condition in order to receive their security deposit back or avoid additional fees. As we tell customers, landlords tend to be a lot nicer when moving in rather than moving out. Sweep Scrub has performed many, many successful exit cleans, within a budget, that were most importantly “landlord friendly”.

A Sweep Scrub exit clean typically involves:

  1. Cleaning all surfaces: This can include (to name a few examples) windows, light fittings, storm water pipes, walls, purlins, floors, yard, car park and driveways.

  2. Industrial sweeping of floors: All floors should be thoroughly cleaned to remove dirt, dust, and debris.

  3. Industrial scrubbing of floors: Any hard floors should be scrubbed to remove stains and leave them looking clean and shiny.

  4. Pressure washing: All walls, above ground fixtures and fittings need pressure washing to remove cobwebs, dust, overspray or contaminants.

  5. Dusting: Dusting should be done throughout the property, including on furniture, light fixtures, ceiling fans, and baseboards, a simpler solution to pressure washing, without the concerns to electrical safety.

  6. Checking for damage: Before leaving, tenants should inspect the property for any damage beyond normal wear and tear. If any damage is found, it should be reported to the landlord or property manager.

Overall, the goal of an exit clean is to leave the property in the same condition it was in when the tenant moved in, aside from normal wear and tear. This helps ensure a smooth transition for the next occupants and helps tenants receive their security deposit back.
